Given the title, you might see what I’m thinking here. What started as an innocent abstract self portrait ended up rather yonic when framed for the camera. The colors are simple yet dazzling. To me, perfectly blended to reveal a cascade of shades and feathers. The original pose for the portrait was rather simple. An arm raised above the head with the hips flared out proudly. Like many paintings, I worked with what the canvas was giving me. Working so closely to the surfaces as to get the even curls, I couldn’t see what was developing before me. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I finally hung it up to take photos. Through the viewfinder, cutoff from the rest of the room, I couldn’t help but see the familiar outline of a friendly face. While it wasn’t my initial intention, I guess it fits in with the rest of my portfolio rather well.
